Dangerous Inheritance by Barbara Warren

My book review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Dangerous Inheritance. This is the first book of Barbara's I think I have read but I enjoyed it very much. The story is well written, fast paced, and full of complex, broken people. Faith is a big part of the story too and I like that.

Macy Douglas just lost her grandmother to cancer; before she died her grandmother mentioned something about a box. Macy found the box and found out about her mother's death, supposedly by her father's hand. Her father had died in prison; she must prove his innocence. A lawyer notified her that her mother's mother had died and she had inherited her family home. Unable to remember anything in her first seven years she goes back to hopefully remember what had actually happened. Macy's return brought out anger and hatred from some of the town. There were a few who believed her father innocent but didn't want the town pulled apart.

Officer Nick Balwin bumps into her the night of her arrival. The light was on in the deserted house and he was afraid someone had finally broken into the house, as there had been several attempts. Macy's sees him looking into the window and runs out to confront him. Nick is drawn to Macy and against orders struggles to protect her, help her remember, and find the killer.

A great journey of two people trying to prove that the people they loved did no wrong and to stay alive in the process. This is a great read.
