Lady in Defiance by Heather Blanton

My review today is on the Christian Historical Western Romance, Lady in Defiance. This is book one in the Romance in the Rockies Series. I have never read any of Heather's books before but I am very impressed by this book. I have had it on my Kindle for quite a while but it got lost somehow. I hope to read more of her work. This story is well written, heartwarming, and inspirational. In my own book Operation Rescue, I deal with women who have been caught up in human trafficking. Dealing with the after effects of force prostitution is a difficult thing. I appreciate how Heather dealt with it in this book.
Naomi Miller, her husband John, and her two sisters left North Carolina and are on their way to California when her husband was killed in an accident. Though angry with God, Naomi hears God's voice telling her to stay in Colorado and save the souls in the town of Defiance. Her older sister Rebecca is a widow who has lost everything. Her younger sister is pregnant and has been left high and dry when the father found out about her situation. They agree to stay and help. Told of a building that was built to be a hotel but isn't finished; she goes to the man and offers to buy the building. The man owns the whole town and is evil in Naomi's eyes.
Charles McIntire is a southern gentlemen. He has worked his way to the top of his world. He owns several saloons, brothels, and a huge gold vein that run under the town. He owns this place and the people in it. Now he wants to make the town more respectable so that the railroad would be willing to come through town. When a beautiful young woman comes to his saloon he offers her a job as one of his saloon flowers. She is insulted and explains her plans for the hotel and restaurant. He likes the idea even though she explains about God wanting her to live her and evangelize the town. He plays a game of blackjack with her and gives her the building.
Charles has a hard time keeping these beauties safe from the filthy drunk miners. But he didn't realize he would have trouble with his flowers too; especially the one he sleep with. It is going to take more than he realize to make this place respectable. God has a plan for these two and this place. It's a good plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too, a good plan and not for evil. Give Him your heart and watch Him move in your life.
