My review today is on the Romance, On His Bended Knee. This is the first book in The Brides of the Purple Heart Ranch Series. I liked it so much I actually bought the rest of the series. The story is well written, humorous, and full of adventure. I know you are going to love the story.
Dylan Banks is a wounded warrior. He lost his leg in an explosion in Afghanistan. He and his four buddies (also wounded in this battle have come home. Dylan took money from his trust fund and bought a ranch to help them all to heal. They have therapy horses, animals, chores to help them. Dr. Patel, his therapist and pastor has been a real blessing to these broken men. At the beginning of the story Dylan is told that according to the zoning laws they must be married or lose the ranch. Heart broken he doesn't know how to fight it. Then he meets a woman (through Dr. Patel) that is as desperate as he is. She agrees to marry him in a marriage of convenience.
Maggie is a vet tech. Her boss has told her to put down the dog on the table. He has lost his back legs and wouldn't be able to have a good life. When she balks at putting the dog down and sneaks him out of the back door she is fired. This is not the first time she has taken home a disabled dog. When she arrives at her apartment she is caught by her landlord. He said he could allow one dog or two but five disabled dogs were not acceptable. She had to move. Brokenhearted she goes to her pastor who tells her of the Purple Heart Ranch and that they might have a job for her and a place to stay. She meets Dylan and agrees to a thirty day trial period. Soon she agrees to marry the man.
A humorous journey of five disabled soldiers, five disabled dogs, and two broken souls. A great story of happy ever after, and heartwarming in every way.
