Second Chance at Love by Alexa Verde

My review today is on the Christian Romance, Second Chance at Love Box Set. I always enjoy receiving a book from Alexa. Her books are awesome. These stories are well written, humorous, and heartwarming. I know you will love this book.

Not Your Cinderella Type Book 3
Allie Reyes has been raised by her step mother. She is working as a cleaning lady while her step mother and step sister live in luxury. Her step sister blackmails her to attend a masked ball to keep women away from the man she wants to marry; as she can't attend the ball herself. The main problem is the man she is suppose to keep occupied is her high school sweetheart. They had been so close until they suddenly stopped seeing each other. At least he wouldn't know who she is. Her step sister loans her the dress, shoes, and her car but she must be home by midnight. Unfortunately she loses one of her shoes which makes her step sister furious and she refuses to pay for the repairs on her car.
Rodrigo Garza is the head of a corporation. He suffers from an overbearing father. Their relationship is on the rocks. His father is trying to force him to marry someone he can't stand. He is surprised when he meets a beautiful  woman named Cyndi at the ball. She reminds him of Allie, his childhood sweetheart. He had been told that she never wanted to see him ago. His heart still hasn't mended from that heartbreak. He finds her shoe as she ran from him. He thought maybe she was his Allie; he goes to her home but is told Allie moved away years ago. Now he must find the woman who touched his heart.

Travel Journalist Joy Avila has returned home to visit her grandmother. Her grandmother had sprained her ankle and needed help. Her grandmother owns the town newspaper and received a letter to God asking for a mother for and a wife for a little boy's father. Her grandmother sends her over to the boy's home to share the letter and all the letters sent in reply to his father. The thing is that man had been the love of her life. She had been a chubby child that had been tormented by her mother and her classmates but Dylan had helped her and befriended her. He never knew he had stolen her heart. He had married another woman right out of high school. How was she going to get involved with his little family without getting hurt? She was to set up dates for him and find him a wife.
Dylan met Joy at the door. She had been his best friend throughout high school. She has been all over the world traveling for magazines and books. He's surprised to see her at his door. She had been avoiding him these last few years. She tells him what his son had done and brings in several boxes of letters offering to be his wife and mother his two sons. His ex-wife had been a drug addict and in and out of his life. She had finally divorced him. Dylan has adopted a teenager and they are making a new family. He doesn't see a need for a wife but he goes along with the dates. He soon realizes the only one he wants to date is Joy and she refuses to do that. How can he keep her in his life when she has a job that takes her all over the world?

She is on her way home when a flash flood stops her car in the middle of the rushing water. She's torn on what she should do. She has her son and his pets to consider. Would he believe her if she told him her secret?

Roman Vela gets a call that Aileen is in trouble. He runs to her rescue. He takes her, her son, and his pets to his home. Her home and business are involved in the flood. Can he keep them safe without losing his heart again. He soon realizes he still loves her but can he trust her not to hurt him again?
