My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Runaway Witness. This is book two in the series Protected Identities. I really appreciate Maggie's work. She writes amazing stories, I'm always thrilled to get one of her books in the mail. This story is well written, action packed, and full of adventure. It's also drenched in faith. I like that, don't you?
Iris James was in witness protection; now she is on the run. Her location was disclosed to her killers by a hacker. She is living in a tiny camper. She's working at a dinner, the place is full and she notices a man watching her. He looks familiar. Is he one of the killers? After she takes off from the dinner; the man stops her. It was Mack a man she loved but thought was killed. He turns out to be an undercover cop.
Detective Mack Gray had been shot, thrown in the lake, and left for dead. Because he had been undercover they went a head and faked his death. The two bullet wounds in his chest still bothered him. He had volunteered at the homeless shelter that Iris ran. He was investigating a kidnapping ring. He is now part of an unofficial task force that is trying to locate the people who were compromised by the hackers. He explains what happened but he hadn't realized she thought he was dead. As he is talking to her a van with one of the Jackals pulls up and shoots him with a tranquilizer dart. He tells Iris to run but she won't. She comes to rescue him.
A journey of two broken souls trying to keep ahead of these vicious kidnappers and killers. They are determined to find the teens that the Jackals have kidnapped. Can they stay alive long enough to find these evil men? God has a plan for these two; a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too. A good plan and not for evil. Give Him your heart and watch Him turn your life around.
