Taken in Texas by Susan Sleeman

My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Taken in Texas. This is the fourth book in the McKade Law Series. I am thrilled to receive Susan's books. I'd been looking forward to getting it in the mail. I'm not sure how she keeps coming up with ideas for her great stories; so many authors just put out cookie cutter stories and you always know who did it and what will happen next. Susan's not like that and she always has her faith woven into her stories. This story is well written, action packed, and full of lovable characters. They are so real. I love all the McKades.
Deputy Sheriff Kendall McKade is trying to earn the detective's position that will soon open when her brother is voted into the sheriff's position. Her dad, the sheriff wants to retire. She goes on a welfare check on a seventy-five year old lady. Her nephew couldn't get a hold of her. When she arrives the house is dark; the nephew says she never goes out at night, her car is still here, she sees a man in the shadows inside, the back door is unlocked, she enter, and is attacked. The first thing she sees when she come to is her ex-boyfriend bending over her. Just what she needs, not.
Detective Cord Goodwin comes to check on his aunt. He has called for a welfare check on her but so far no one has notified him about what they found. He arrives only to find Kendall lying on the kitchen floor, a rolling pin near by and a huge egg on her forehead. He makes in an officer down call to the station and then looks around. No sign of his aunt. Who would kidnap a seventy year old? This was Kendall's first investigation and he was going to be a part of it. After all he was the one with the experience.
A journey to find a little old lady. Kendall had left him because of his controlling ways. Can they work together when it is really her case. God has a plan for these two, a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too. You might not have kidnappers after you but you do have an enemy; he is out to steal, kill, and destroy, Jesus came to give you life and that more abundantly. Give Him your heart and watch Him move in your life.
