My review today is on the Medieval Romance, Resurrection. This is the fourth book in The Sword and the Cross Chronicles. I have loved this series and was afraid this was the last one but I now I found out there is still another one, Praise God. This is my favorite of the series but then I said the same about book three. I did really love this one. It is well written, heart warming, and humorous. I felt bad for Hugh in the last two books so I'm glad he has his own story; I really like Lady Eleanor, and the old man came back. I loved that they all talked about the old man later in the story.
Lord Thornwood Hugh de Maury is trying to rebuild his keep. His wife had almost destroyed the place. (book one) Now that she is dead he is trying to make his keep the best one round. He works constantly so when King Richard charges Hugh to find a husband for his wife's orphaned cousin Hugh is not pleased. He has to much too do to find a mate for this cousin. She arrives early to make things worse. The girl is plain and has no dowry; no one wishes to wed her. She is taking over his keep; what is he going to do with her? The king decides she needs the lands of her uncle's keep to entice someone to marry her. What this does is cause a circus in the keep as men from all over descend on them.
Lady Eleanor de Tanie has been moved around all her life. She's gone from one relative to another so she's pleased when the king says the Lord Thornwood must find her a husband. Her uncle would soon die and she had no other place to go. The only problem is she has always been in love with Hugh. Now he is to find her a husband. He ignores her for quite awhile so she just works with his people to make the keep better. He finally asks her to make a list of her assets so he can find her a mate. It takes her all day to come up with a list of five things and none of them will help Hugh. She couldn't lie. He offers her a task to keep her busy. She wants to build a chapel but that's the last thing he wants.
A journey of two broken souls as they struggle to do the will of their king. A king and his brother's matchmaking game and an angel that tries to guide him in the right direction. God has a plan for these two, a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too, a good plan and not for evil. Give Him your heart, trust Him in all His ways and watch Him move in your life
