My review today is on the fictional Bible story, Anticipated. This book is well written, heart moving, and is timely. I know you are going to love this story.
This story begins when the promised Messiah is born. It is written in the first person by a young boy named Uzziel. Uzziel lives in Bethlehem with his family. He is to sleep on the roof of his home with his cousin because they needed all the space in the home for the visitors. The town is packed because of the census. Uzziel sees the star in the sky and is intrigued. He notices his uncle and the other shepherds that care for sacred sheep moving towards a stable. Why would they leave their sacred duty? He follows his uncle and sees the new born babe. Could he truly be the Messiah? He tells his cousin and decides to start an army to help the Messiah when he is old enough to fight. He loves the child and intends to be a part of his life. Uzziel sees the caravan that bring the Magi from the east and he witnesses the slaughter of his baby brother and cousins as the Roman Army destroy their town. The people are never the same.
The story then jumps thirty years to when a prophet is found in Israel. Can this truly be the Messiah? Uzziel is sure he was killed years ago. He follows the Man and has trouble accepting His teaching for it was so different from how he had been taught. It's a great read and you will be drawn into the Biblical account as they move on to the cross.
