Deadline by Maggie K. Black

My book review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Deadline. Maggie does a great job with suspense and intrigues. This one was an excellent example. This book is well written, fast paced, and her characters are flawed but intriguing. I enjoyed this story very much and I know you will also.

Jack Brooks is a journalist for the Torchlight News. He has been following a random string of murders that he believes are the works of one killer. He wrote an article naming the killer as the Raincoat Killer.  The police chief is extremely angry that a reporter would go over his head and write such lies in the paper. Jack's editor is also in trouble for printing it; so he tells him to take time off and find proof.

Meg Duff is a Wedding Planner on a small island. Her business is prospering until she can hardly keep up with it. She meets up with her bride and travels with the wedding party to the island. As she stands by the rail of the ferry, she's attacked and thrown overboard. Jack rescues Meg but she when she finds out he's a reporter she refuses to help him in any way.

Meg's brochure had been found at all the crime scenes and Jack is convinced she's the next victim. Meg lived through a nightmare years ago, caused, she felt by reporters and newspapers. She wants no part of Jack. Now the past hurts are all back and the pain overwhelms her but Jack is going to protect her in spite of her stubbornness.
