My book review today is on the Love Inspired Historical, The Warrior's Vow. I wrote a review on The Guardian's Promise and this book is a follow up. She didn't put it in a series but they go together. I loved these books. I think it would be so hard to write stories about a time before Jesus came. How people could live and stay true to God in the old covenant is beyond me. This story takes place in 835 BC. The story is well written and I love the characters.
Abigail is the daughter of the wicked Queen Athaliah of Judah. Her mother had repeatedly told her what a disappointment she was. How her lack of beauty was a humiliation to the queen, so she was forced to live in her chambers. When the queen is killed and Joash is placed in her place, Abigail and her entourage flee for their lives. Captain Suph of the Queen's Army has Abigail under his "protection" with every intention of forcing her to marry him and ruling Judah through her.
Jesse was one of the warriors that over threw the Queen's reign. He was the man that killed the queen but now he has been captured by Suph. The captain used him for target practice with his knife and had badly beaten him. The captain presented Jesse's broken body to Abigail as a gift. She takes him and calls for a healer and they bind up his wounds.
Abigail is drawn to the young warrior and fearing for his life, she and her friends flee with him. Jesse is a man of God, Abigail is a idol worshiper; although he can't allow a relationship with her, He vows to protect her.
A great story of a search for truth and the one true God. I know you will want to read it. God bless you and have a great week end.
