My review today is on the Regency Romance, Reluctant to Wed. This is a Christian Regency Romance. I'm not sure why most authors of Regency or Medieval Romances think they must be full of sex. I'm always thrilled when I find Christian or clean romance authors. I hope to read more of Anneliese's work. This book is well written, heartwarming and full of faith. I know you are going to love it.
Emma Houlton was raised in America on a small farm. Her father and mother had eloped and left England because his father, Baron Houlton, refused to acknowledge a vicar's daughter as his son's wife. Recently the Baron asked to be allowed to bring his granddaughter to England to complete a marriage contract that he had made years ago; in return he gave her mother (her father had died) a great deal of money to save the farm. Emma felt a since of duty to her father to go even though her mother didn't really want her to go and warned her of the Baron's temperament. She felt that God was directing her to fulfill the contract. She believed the marriage would grow into a love match. She crossed the ocean in the company of her uncle. She was pleased when she saw her betrothed but didn't understand why he kept himself away from her. He is court her right?
Earl of Devonport, Colin Beauford came from parent that fought their whole marriage. He had never seen a happy marriage. His father had made a marriage contract with his neighbor years ago. Devon as most called him refused to even acknowledge the Baron's granddaughter long enough that she eloped. He knew he had blown it. Without the marriage he would lose a great deal of inheritance. When he learns the Baron had another granddaughter in America that has agreed to marry him he is determined to marry her and leave her at his country estate and continue his life as he pleased. He refuses to be henpecked like his brother is. He keeps himself aloof until the Baron tells him his health is deteriorating. They marry and have a good wedding trip until his best friend comes and causes trouble.
With interference the journey becomes very complicated. There appears to be no hope for a future. God has a plan for these two, a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too, a good plan and not for evil. Give Him your heart and watch Him work out the details. You won't be sorry.
