My review today is on the Historical Romance, Promise of Home. This is a delightful story about the Orphan Train. The story is well written, full of faith, and love. I know you are going to love it.
Julia Miller was born deaf. She can still remember her frustrated mother before she dumped her off at the church. The minister and his wife takes care of the few orphans that are brought to them. They have had a hard time with Julia. A couple visit that have a school for the deaf. Julia is taken with them. Now she has returned to the minister's home to help care for another deaf child. Julia is thrilled to teach the wild child. Her hopes are dashed when a man she has come to care for talks to the minister and he agrees that several of the children should go on the Orphan Train to find them a home. She agrees to go with them as a chaperone.
Silas Baker lives alone. His mother died recently. She had been involved in helping the children in the city. Silas meets a beautiful young deaf woman at church. She is with a young deaf girl who dropped her chalk and begins to get upset. He finds the chalk and helps the little girl. He is very attracted to the young deaf woman but Julia is really to young for him. He is thrilled when she agrees to go on the Orphan Train with them until another man becomes interested in her.
A difficult journey for these two adults and the children they have become very attached to. God has a plan for them all; a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too, a good plan and not for evil. Give Him your heart and watch Him guide you in the way that you should go.
