My review today is on the Mail Order Bride: A Banker's Wife. This is the first book in the Mail Order Montana Series. I really enjoy mail order bride stories and so this is obviously a good fit for me. I have enjoyed Leah's work. This book is well written, faith based, and heartwarming. I know you are going to love it.
Sarah Ackerman and her elder brother Tom are raising their younger siblings after their parents death. Tom has a tragic accident with a plow. As Sarah tries to help remove the plow from his leg her arm is also injured. She is unable to do much around the house to help the family. When she finds out her sister Carrie has agreed to be a mail order bride to keep them losing the farm she decides to take her place. Carrie would be more help on the farm and she could care for the man's two children plus she wanted to protect her sister. Who knew what kind of man this banker might be? She takes off in the dark to catch the train.
Banker John Bowman has sent for a wife. He needs someone to care for his children and doesn't want any of the women in town. He's upset when he finds out she has lied to him by not telling his about her injury but he is drawn to her so he lets it slide. The Pastor is out of town and they are unable to marry yet so he would see how she did with the children.
The man is handsome but he is cold and unfeeling. Sarah is unable to talk to him to tell him who she really is. His daughter is out to destroy their relationship. She runs up against her future husband's partner and he takes liberty with her but John refuses to believe her. She is kidnapped in a bank robbery. Nothing is going as it should. How is she to make this work? She has all ready taken the bride price to save the family. She can't give it back but he seems determined to send her back. And Carrie seems determined to come and make things right.
A journey to two souls; broken and without hope. God has a plan for these two and the children. God has a plan for you too. Give your heart to the Lord and watch Him turn your life around.
