My review today is on the Love Inspired Historical, Would-Be Wilderness Wife. This is the second book in the Frontier Bachelors Series. I loved this book, it's a continuation of the Mercer Belles story. The story is well written, humorous, and adventurous. Regina also weaves her faith throughout the story and I love that. Her characters are complex but very loveable, you'll enjoy them.
Catherine Stanway is a nurse; trained by her doctor father. Her father and brother were killed in the war. Brokenhearted Catherine joins the Mercer Belles expedition to come to Seattle (first book) even though she has no intention of getting married. She now works for a doctor and has become invaluable to him. A man comes wanting help for his mother who was to ill to come to the town. The doctor and the nurse explain that they can't leave the many ill in Seattle to treat his mother. Upset he leaves.
Andrew Wallin is responsible for his four brothers, his sister, and mother now that his father died. When his mother comes down with a deadly fever he goes to town to find someone to help her. Dejected that he can't get the help he needs he takes it out on his young brother. He sends his brother off and runs errands, when he meets up with his brother he has everything loaded and drives them out of town. Drew learns much later that Levi has kidnapped the nurse so that Drew could marry her and she could heal their mother. Drew is not about to marry, he doesn't have time and he doesn't even know this woman.
So begins a journey of these characters. A story full of adventure, stalked by wild animals, harassed by neighbors, and a matchmaking family. God has a plan for this couple and when they learn to trust Him, He turns everything around for them. Isn't that just like God? He always has a plan for us if we can just get out of His way. It's always much greater than what we had ever planned.
