My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Smokescreen. Jodie's books are awesome suspense stories but I must warn you; Do not start this book if you don't have time to finish it because you won't be able to put it down. This story is well written, fast paced, and full of action. She deals with the terrible facts of PTSD and how it can paralyze a person. She also deals with the fact that only God can deliver you from the fear, panic attacks, and set you free. It is an awesome story.
Ashley Colson had joined the military with the sole desire to go into Intelligence. That dream was stolen from her right before she was to go to the training school years ago when she was shot and almost died. The man that she loved left her on her hospital bed and took her place in the training. He never said a word just left her. Sean their best friend stood beside her but he was like a brother to her
even though they had become engaged. Now Sean had put her right in the middle of terrorist nightmare.
Military Officer Ethan Kincaid is a member of an Intelligence team that is so secret no one even knows they exist. Sean now involved in the operation calls to tell him that Ashley is in danger. Ethan gets to the airport just as a terrorist tries to kidnap her. Ethan's not sure how to get her to trust him after he left her when she was hurt. There was no way to tell her he couldn't stand to stay by her side when she married Sean. He watched Ashley struggle with paralyzing panic attacks that he blamed himself for; how could he lead her back to the faith that been her foundation before she had been shot.
A journey of two broken hearts struggling to survive the terror that seemed two steps ahead of them. They soon learned that only God could save them from the destruction that was overtaking them. God always has a plan for us and that plan can bring us through any attacks of the enemy.
