Shattered Trust by Kathleen Ball

My review today is on the Historical Western Romance, Shattered Trust. This is the second book in the Mail Order Brides of Spring Water Box Set. I really enjoyed this story although what this young woman went through was tragic. The story is well written, horrifying, and yet touching your soul. I know you are going to love it.
Parker Eastman and his wife are so happy together (book one) that his wife wants to bring more women and children to the ranch. He offers the first man to marry a new house. Several of his men take the bet but only one man sends an ad to get a mail order bride.
Sergeant Austin Maxwell, Max to his friends comes to meet his new bride only to find a woman with a baby in tow. She told him she was a widow of four years but said nothing of the tiny babe. Max is not sure what to think but he takes her back to the ranch where the town is there for his wedding. Max goes through with the wedding even though she doesn't tell him anything about what is going on. The woman obviously has some issues as she draws away from every man's touch. Can they get past her issues and become a family?
Veronica Nolan has been badly abused her whole life. When she finds herself an unwed mother with men trying to sneak into her place at night she answers an ad for a mail order bride. She's not sure how she will ever lay with a man but it can't be any worse than it has been at her place. When she meets Max she's not sure what to make of him. He is so good to her. She didn't know there were men like that. He is a gentle, kind men. But she can't stand to be touched. Will he get rid of her? How can they ever be a family? Can she keep her secrets?
A journey, of abuse, trust, and forgiveness. God has a plan for this little family; a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too; a good plan and not for evil. Trust Him, give Him your heart and watch him turn your life around.
