My review today is on The Third Target: A J.B. Collins Novel. This book is not my normal fare but it was awesome. The scary thing about this book is that could easily happen. I've seen Joel on TV interviews but haven't read any of his work. The book is well written, action packed, and well researched. I enjoyed the book and hope I will get a chance to read more of his work.
J.B. Collins is a foreign correspondent for The New York Times. He’s
been following his grandfather's footsteps and has been awarded the Pulitzer. He’s got a couple of sources insisting that ISIS has obtained chemical weapons.
Against his boss’s orders and his better judgment, he sneaks into Syria
in order to interview ISIS’s commander. The second man in control of ISIS wants him to tell the world they are going after a third target. He assures him that he doesn't have chemical weapons and tells him if he puts that in the article he will kill him. After several attempt on his life he writes that ISIS is believed to have these weapon. Then sets off to find ISIS first in command.
Meanwhile, the American government continues to downplay
the ISIS threat, insisting that there’s no way the radical sect could
have weapons of mass destruction. As the Middle east tries to establish a peace treaty they try to stop him. As Collins uncovers the story, he
finds himself fighting a battle on two fronts as he struggles to survive
in the East and have his message heard in the West.
