Escaped by Elaine Manders

My review today is on the Western Intrigue, Escaped. This is book four of the series, Intrigue Under Western Skies. This is a fascinating book about the late eighteen hundreds. The story is well written, heart warming and full of faith. I know you are going to love it.
Juliette Kendal  is the oldest in her family. Her mother died when she was but a child. Her father remarried and had three more children but Grace had a difficult time so was told to have no more children. After Juliette's father died she remarried. The man was horrible. She got pregnant and died in childbirth. The man was a gambler and an abuser. Juliette told him the next time he hurt on of the boys she would kill him. When she found him raping her thirteen year old sister she didn't even think about it but pulled a gun and shot him. She buried him in her garden. Her sister was so traumatized she couldn't speak. She told the boys she was scared by a bear. They set a bear trap and caught themselves a cowboy from Nebraska. The trap broke his foot and ankle in several place and there were several serious wounds. Juliette nurses him and he falls in love with her. He wants to take her and the kids back with him to Nebraska. How can she marry when she is a murderer? She could hang or spend her life in prison.
Jake Gresham has worked for Sollano Ranch since he was a young boy. His boss, Rhyan Cason sends him to Georgia to check out some land he wants to invest in. He sees some wild berries and they looked so good he goes over to pick some but is caught in a bear trap. It almost takes off his leg. He tries to shoot the chain but is unable to get out of the trap. Two young boys come and help him. They get him back on his horse and take him home. Their sister takes charge of him as the oldest boy goes for the doctor. Jake falls head over heels for Juliette and her family. He wants them to go back to Nebraska with him.
A journey of intrigue as the small family leave all that they knew to go to the new territory. God has a plan for this family; a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too, a good plan and not for evil. Surrender your heart and watch Him work in your mess.
