Mail Order Bride: The Elaborate Switch by Terri Grace

My review today is on the book, Mail Order Bride: The Elaborate Switch. I really enjoyed this book. This book is well written, humorous, and will touch your heart. I know you will enjoy this book. I do like to read Terri's work.

Bridget Huxley was tricked into a compromising situation by her mother and a rich man. Her mother told her she would have to marry this horrible man. She packed a bag and escaped. Posing as a maid she overheard that the man was waiting for his mail order bride but she was late. Bridget repaced her picture with the other woman's, read the letters and then took her place. They were married right away and then took off on his ship and went to San Francisco. She refused to share his bed under different excuses.

Widower Nicholas Benjamin has been writing to a young woman for some times. He believes she will be a good mother to his daughters and a good wife for him. He didn't understand why she was late but then she did come so he hurried through the wedding ceremony so they can be on their way. His daughters fall in love with this woman and he is soon drawn to her but she keeps him at arms length.

A journey of this small family trying to find their way to a happy ever after until Bridget's past catches up with her. God does have a plan for them and it is much greater than either of them had dreamed. God has a plan for you too, just give Him your heart and watch Him move in your life.

Christmas at Promise Lodge by Charlotte Hubbard

My review today is on the Amish Romance, Christmas at Promise Lodge. This is the second book in the Promise Lodge Series. I was thrilled to find Charlotte had written the next book in the series as I loved the first one. Promise Lodge left me asking questions about what happens next. This book answered some of those question but I look forward to the next one to find out what happens to the rest of the community. This book is well written, humorous, and will touch your heart. You will love it.

Widow Mattie Schwartz and several others were basically verbally attack at the wedding service by the new bishop Floyd. He told the congregation that all the single and widowed men and women must marry before the first snow fall. He named them and told them he expected them to stand before him saying their wedding vows.  The three Bender sisters and other women couldn't continue to run businesses they must marry and take care of their families.  He also said there would be no interfaith marriages. Mattie wasn't about be forced to marry. She'd endured on abusive marriage and wouldn't have another.

Preacher Amos Troyer was disgusted. A wedding ceremony was not the place to bring up such demands. Now Mattie would never marry him. How could he convince her to share his life after this? What about the other singles in the community? Rosetta Bender and Truman Wickey, a Mennonite, were in love but now they would be unable to marry. Christine Hersberger, a widow, hardly knew Marlin Kurtz how could the bishop expect them to marry. The three sisters had founded the Promise Lodge and were not about to give it over to some man.

A struggle of these two hearts and their community when some man tries to be God in their new district. God has a plan for this new colony and He doesn't care what a bishop has to say. This is a great story and brings to mind the scripture that says 'Judge not lest you be judged.' God has a plan for you too. Give God your heart and let Him turn your mess around.

I must say that Valerie always does a great job on intrigues; she's one of my fav's.

Ex-policewoman Sophie Williams is now the head K-9 trainer now that her boss was killed. She had quit the force when her partner had been killed on her watch and she blamed herself. She loved what she did now. She held many secrets and had no intention of sharing or letting anyone close to her.

Starting Over by Rachel Hanna

My review today is on the story, Starting Over. This is A Whiskey Ridge Romance.I haven't read any of Rachel's books before but I enjoyed it. I must warn my Christian followers this is not a Christian romance. It does have some colorful language, not anything extreme though and there was more sexual tension than the books I normally read but no graphic sex scenes. The book is well written, humorous, and heart warming.

Kelly Cole had a tragic childhood. She was raised by parent's addicted to drugs, her father now in prison and her mom a hoarder. Because of that she lived her life in complete control. She owned a small home and rented a building for her spa. She loved the peace and quiet of her business until one day everything changed. A man moved in upstairs and turned her life upside down. She did everything she could to get rid of him. After her boyfriend ran off with her best friend the last thing she needed in her life was a good looking, sexy ninja warrior.

Quinn Maverick is a widower and he has rented the upstairs portion of a spa for his Karate school so that he can start over. His wife has only been dead for a year and he wasn't expecting to be attracted to the cute little owner of the spa. He did everything he could to dislike this woman. She was such an irritation.

A journey of two hurting people trying their best not to like each other but the attraction would not be denied. To bad they didn't know about how God could change their lives. God has a plan for each of us. A plan much greater than we can ever imagine. Trust God and He will show Himself mighty in your behalf. God bless you
